Xiaomi has finally unveiled Mi Mix Alpha 5G concept phone at a launch event in China on Tuesday. Unlike Samsung and Huawei foldable phone it has a wrap-around display although you can’t unwrap the Alpha and get one giant continuous panel.
Mi Mix Alpha uses a flexible screen allows it to achieve a screen to body ratio of 180%. This flexible screen offers surround display experience without any bezel on the sides. The panel has a 2.15 mm thick bezels on top and bottom.
It has a stripe at the back which houses the cameras which is protected by the sapphire glass. The phone sides does not have any physical buttons so it comes with pressure-sensitive and leverage a linear motor to simulate the touch of real buttons.
Since there is no speaker or any other holes the traditional earpiece receiver and proximity sensor are replaced by brand new Display Acoustic Technology besides this there is advanced palm rejection technology.
As per Xiaomi ” it will use sensors and AI algorithms to detect which side of the phone you are looking at to light that up and show content”
Besides mind-boggling design and display Mi Mix Alpha houses a 108-megapixel Samsung camera sensor with 20MP and 12MP sensors.

Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha is an android smartphone which supports dual SIM. It features a 7.92 inch flexible OLED screen with 2088 x 2250 pixels resolution. The device measures around 154.38 x 72.3 x 10.4mm and weighs 241 grams.
In the camera department it sports triple camera set up at the back the first camera is 108MP sensor it uses Tetracell technology, which is meant to output 27MP shots pixel-binned shots. The second camera 20MP ultra wide shooter and the third camera is a 12MP telephoto lens.
Mi Mix Alpha is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ SoC and it is coupled with 12GB of RAM for flawless multitasking experience. The device runs on the company’s customer MIUI Alpha operating system. It comes with 512GB internal storage which means more than enough space for all apps and media files.
Connectivity option does includes 5G support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, and GPS. It has a 4,050 mAh nano silicone cathode power cell and it supports 40W wired fast-charging
Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha Price
It will cost CNY 19,999 roughly (Rs. 2,00,000/$2,800/€2,500) which makes it costlier than Samsung galaxy fold and Huawei mate X. Xiaomi Says – ” the Mi Mix Alpha will act as a concept device and it is not planning to start mass production anytime soon”. It is expected that company will produce a limited batch at the end of December
